Clinical Applications
|
|
There is a large body of
research to be found on the clinical effects of low
level laser. Omega Laser Systems, our U.K. Partner,
and all of our
manufacturing partners maintain extensive libraries as
it relates to all areas of clinical research and its
relevance to the practicing clinician. Many of their
colleagues who are currently involved in the
ever-increasing areas of low level applications
regularly contribute to this growing database of
information.
In this respect a large
volume of controlled research has been carried out in
United Kingdom centers of excellence such as: Middlesex
University, Guy's
Hospital Tissue Repair Unit, Oxford University, Ulster
University, Cambridge Military Hospital, Northampton
School of Podiatry and many more institutions. |

Clinical Case Studies
Demonstrating the
range of applications in which Omega Laser Systems low
level laser equipment has been used |
Mosaic Verrucae-
Clinical Investigation Only
|
|

 |
Female who had suffered from
mosaic verccuae for eleven years before treatment with
LLLT. Treatment period was between 24th February to 17th
March with two treatments per week being administered
using the cluster probe. |
|
|
Acne -Clinical
Investigation Only
|
|

 |
Female patient with a long
history of acne. Cluster probe was used for whole
treatment with 5 points treated - two minutes per point.
The pulsing frequencies ranged between 2.5, 10 and 20
Hz. Before and after picture shows patient after only
two treatments over a one-week period.
Less reddening -- decrease
in size of acne pustule and general improvement in
overall quality of skin. |
|
|
Leg Ulceration-
Clinical Investigation Only
|
|

 |
Female patient in nursing /
residential home. History of total 23 years leg
ulceration. Treated using Florozene and Aliginate
dressings. LLLT treatment protocol - cluster probe with
Low, Medium and High range of frequency pulsing.
Treatment 2 minutes per point.
Patient
reported being pain free relatively early on in
treatment but complete healing of chronic leg ulceration
took a total of 9 months (four month break due to
illness).
Result:
quickly able to socialize, no pain and completely
healed. |

Herpes Labilias-Clinical
Investigation Only
|
|

 |
8 year old girl attending
casualty due to parents' considerable concern as child
in great pain and no longer able to eat. 660nm Omega
probe used to treat around the lips at each affected
point. 30 second per point for a total treatment time of
5 minutes at 20Hz (high frequency).
Top-left picture shows
before treatment.
Bottom-left picture shows
two days after treatment.
Response: pain relief was
immediate which proved relief as child
stopped crying and parents took her home where she began
eating. |
|
|
Rheumatoid Arthritis-Clinical
Investigation Only
|
|

 |
50 year old female patient
diagnosed as having Class 3 RA inflammatory phase of
steady development.
Probes used in treatments
were 820nm (50mW) and 31 cluster probe with the 820nm
probe being administered on each interphalangial joint
(30 seconds per point) followed by the cluster (one
minute) over the whole hand. The pulsing frequency was
20 Hz and administration of treatment
three times per week. Total
number of treatments were 12 over a one month period.
Comments:
Picture 1: Condition as
start of treatment - note the extent of inflammation
indicated by yellow
Picture 2: After 6
treatments as outlined above
Picture 3: After 13
treatments
You can see the improvement
in treatment of condition and the third picture shows
the progress at 13 treatments. After 6 months follow up
it was found the initial inflammation was beginning to
creep back, but the overall condition was much improved
in comparison with the original status of patient with
no LLLT treatment. |
